Some OCPS campuses are decades newer than the neighborhoods around them. Dillard Street isn't one of them — and the renovation had to account for that

Dillard Street Elementary School sits on N. Dillard Street in downtown Winter Garden, an Orange County Public Schools campus serving roughly 480 students in grades pre-kindergarten through five. Grassland carried out a full electrical renovation of the school, one of the smaller and older campuses in the district, while classes stayed in session throughout.

Age changes the nature of a renovation like this. Older buildings rarely match their original drawings after decades of small fixes and additions, so a good part of the work was diagnostic before it was ever electrical: tracing circuits, confirming what was actually behind each wall, and building a shutdown sequence around what the building really needed rather than what a set of plans assumed. Grassland has carried out renovations like this across Central Florida school districts, and Dillard Street never lost a day of instruction to the work.
